NEWSFLASH from Windsor Mountain - 2010

Dear friends, family and alumni,

We have some important news to share with you!  Richard is formally retiring, so during the coming summer of 2010, we will welcome a lovely new family who will become owners of Windsor Mountain and are eager to lead our beloved camp into the future.

The new “unit” is the Labovitz family, Jake and Kerry, their adorable children, Ellie and Tyler, plus an additional member of the family, a labradoodle named Cody.  They are tremendously enthusiastic about undertaking the Windsor Mountain enterprise.  We think they are an excellent choice to lead camp, given their own personal values and goals, which are very much in synch with recent family participants as well as those whose involvement reaches back in the history of camp, starting in 1961.

This is an exciting new chapter for Windsor Mountain and Jake and Kerry are committed to continuing the wonderful camping experience that has long been the tradition of Windsor Mountain. You can count on singing your favorite songs and enjoying familiar favorite activities; I’ll contribute my own creativity and good spirit to support Jake and Kerry in their new venture in every way.

In addition to the Labovitz family, we hope you all will join us in welcoming some campers and staff members from Camp Hawthorne in 2010. Camp Hawthorne is a Maine camp with a philosophy and culture similar to Windsor Mountain, and these similarly-minded campers need a new home. We look forward to sharing the Windsor Mountain experience with our new friends.

In the coming days, either Jake or Kerry will be reaching out to all of our returning families to introduce themselves and to answer any questions that you may have.  They also look forward to meeting many of you in person at one of our ice skating parties or other events.  Of course, you are welcome to call them to schedule a home visit or to introduce yourself.

So we are indeed at a memorable moment; we want you to keep involved with Windsor Mountain and dearly hope to see you this summer! We’ll sing lots of songs, play, enjoy the usual marvelous, extravagant meals and catch up with each others’ lives.

Windsor Mountain alumni as well as new applicants are assured a space at camp for the coming summer, so be assured that your camp summer away from home has space open for you and we’re yearning to see you again!

Much love and appreciation to all

Q&A:  Windsor Mountain in 2010

“When can I meet the new owners of Windsor Mountain?”

Jake and Kerry cannot wait to meet all of you and will be attending the ice skating parties listed on our website, as well as other events before the summer – and we hope you will join us!  Also, in the coming days, either Jake or Kerry will be calling to introduce themselves.  If you have any immediate questions or would like to schedule a home visit, you can always reach Jake on his cell phone at (617) 429-1369 or at jake@windsormountain.org.  Of course, Jake and Kerry will be eager to greet all of you on opening day summer 2010!

“If my child is already enrolled at Windsor Mountain for 2010, is there anything I have to do?”

All enrollments for Windsor Mountain 2010 apply; there’s nothing you need to do.  Tuition remains the same as previously announced.

“Will the program at Windsor Mountain change because of the new owners?”

Jake and Kerry chose to join the Windsor Mountain family because they love and embrace its values, program and philosophy.  They have visited the camp extensively, met and developed relationships with some of the key staff, and their plan is to carry on with the same great Windsor Mountain you know and love.

“How do I contact Windsor Mountain going forward?”

All of the Windsor Mountain contact information (phone, fax, e-mail and web addresses) remain the same.  You’ll find Windsor Mountain right where you always have, at (603) 478-3166 and mail@windsormountain.org.  Also, you can always reach Jake directly on his cell phone at (617) 429-1369 or at Jake@WindsorMountain.org if you ever have any questions.

UPCOMING EVENTS

April 30, May 1-2, 2010:

Volunteer Work Weekend

Call if you'd like to join us!

PLEASE NOTE:   LATER START DATES FOR CAMP
You’ll be interested to know that our July Session is well aligned with your school calendar.  Our 2010 July session will run JULY 3 – July 28.  This is in response to last year’s late school closings, which in many cases (especially NYC) clashed with camp openings.  August session runs July 31 – August 25.  We hope these new dates help families who are trying to work around their school calendars on one end or the other.
