“Are the Animals Patriotic Today?”
“Are the Animals Patriotic Today?”
Yes, this was an actual conversation I overheard at the farm. Walking around camp during an activity period is an incredible experience. Every time I take a walk around camp during activities, I am reminded what a special place this is in the woods of New Hampshire. There were countless activities happening all over camp that yesterday ranged from Archery to sandcastle building to campfire cooking. It is hard to believe but for this past rotation, we offered campers almost 150 different options for activities over three days in four periods of the day. Without a dedicated and talented group of staff, none of this is possible.
Yesterday was our July 4th celebration, as the actual July 4th was rainy until late afternoon. This day is always a special one at camp. We start with a fun wake-up and music playing from the belltower while campers are eating pancakes with strawberries and blueberries (the red and blue part…). For lunch we serve an “American Diner Lunch” family style with chicken fingers and fries on red, white and blue tablecloths. Fun hour featured a camper v. counselors kick ball game, and of course the waterfront was a busy and popular spot. We had a big BBQ for dinner then our evening activity was our July 4th carnival full of your usual carnival games of donuts on a string, pudding drop, face painting, fortune telling and much more. The evening ended with a great fireworks show accompanied by rock bands composed of talented campers and staff.
July 4th tends to mark time here at camp. By this point in the session, campers are adjusted to camp life, and Windsor Mountain is in the swing of things for sure. Thanks as always for your continued support of what we do here.
