Author of “Becoming Jinn” Coming to Windsor Mountain This Summer
We’ve got a special visitor coming to camp this summer. Lori Goldstein, a young adult author from the Boston area, will be teaching an elective writing workshop during both the July and August sessions.
Lori’s debut novel, Becoming Jinn, releases today, April 21. Her book, a young adult contemporary fantasy is a modern spin on the traditional tale of wish-granting genies. So there are no lamps or bottles, no flying carpets and no three wishes. But there is Azra, the main character who wishes more than anything not to become a Jinn. And there’s the powerful Afrit council who doesn’t care what Azra wants. The book follows Azra as she struggles to balance the human life she desperately wants with the Jinn one she’s forced to have.
As an added bonus, if you read Becoming Jinn before Lori gets to camp this summer, you can attend a book club session with your fellow campers, Kerry, and Lori. More about the book here.
