Beach…Glorious Beach!
Campers awoke on Friday to the pleasant sound of pots and pans and counselors announcing that it was BEACH DAY! After breakfast, campers and counselors loaded onto buses and headed to the New Hampshire coast for some fun at the beach. It was one of the most beautiful days of the summer. Everyone enjoyed playing in the water, playing music and games in the sand and just relaxing and being together (and then playing in the water more!). Many campers said it was an amazing day off camp and I completely agree – everyone had a blast! We returned to camp for a delicious taco bar dinner and a campfire. Yesterday, campers enjoyed their last regular day of activities. We also have several tournaments happening right now during fun hour, such as ping pong, soccer and archery. Today, Chef Jay and Ron Furst made homemade donuts for breakfast (with cereal, yogurt and fruit) – YUM! Then, we all hiked to the Red Pine Forest for Sunday Morning Meeting, where we talked about how we can take the values and love we feel in the bubble back home to our communities. I love hearing campers and counselors alike speak of how much camp means to them, such as how they hope to bring a piece of camp with them when they leave, whether it is pitching in more at home and in their community or trying to be kind and respectful to everyone, and how the “Windsor Mountain bubble” is the values and love within each of us so we can take the bubble wherever we go. Once again, I was reminded of how smart and thoughtful Windsor Mountain campers are and how much they have to share with us and each other.
