Appreciating the Moment

Appreciating the Moment

“No matter what happens tomorrow, or for the rest of my life, I’m happy now…” Phil Connors (Groundhog Day)

Yesterday morning, in the midst of the swirling maelstrom that is life in 2020, we were visited by some familiar and happy moments at camp. For the first time since last August, we had our first Sunday Morning Meeting with campers at Windsor Mountain. For those who are new to us, our Sunday Morning Meetings are a reflective time that we spend together in the amphitheater overlooking the lake, pondering a certain topic introduced by a staff member though a story or a personal moment. This morning’s topic was joy. Lots of campers and staff stood and shared what brings them joy in life, and so many spoke of family and friends, connection and being together.

After all of the challenges and uncertainties that this spring and summer has brought (and continues to bring, I suppose), it was magical to just sit and listen to the essence of why we all gathered this summer in the woods of New Hampshire. Like all of you, we have no idea what tomorrow will bring, but yesterday was a great day.
