Ending Session 1 on a High Note!

Session 1 has been truly incredible. The campers have been wonderful, the activities diverse and fun, and the weather fantastic. We are going to make the most of these last couple of days and send everyone home with memories to last a lifetime.

Yesterday, we held our final Sunday Morning Meeting in the sacred Red Pine Forest. Campers hiked 30 minutes in, and the topic was the “road less traveled.” Later in the day we showed the World Cup Final and pretty much all of camp witnessed Spain winning the cup! In the evening, we had our final SLUN with our bunks.

Here’s how we’re closing out Session 1:

  • Super Happy Fun Day: Donuts for breakfast, Camper vs. Counselor Gatorball (a mix of every sport), Super Happy Free Choice afternoon, followed by the Windsor Gala (awards night) and Drum Circle.
  • Andy Upton Day: Our beloved 5K road race ending in an ice cream party, followed by our Leaders in Training (LIT) graduation, final banquet, slideshow, video, and closing campfire.

Highlights from the Week!

We had a crazy fun week at WMI, here are some highlights.

  • Capture the Flag! Our first full day of mini-session 1B was CTF. The battle was between Vegemite and Marmite (Aussie and UK toast spreads).
  • Joels Coffee Haus: a chill variety show where campers can perform songs, scenes, jokes, dances or anything in between!
  • Wednesday Night Lights! Campers spent the evening on the sports field for an epic night of field games — pickleball tournaments, soccer matches, board games, and more — all with a pumping soundtrack, corn dogs, cotton candy, and a surprise ice cream truck.
  • The LIT Dance! The Leaders in Training planned and organized an all camp dance. The theme was Mamma Mia. It was a blast.

YouTube Videos are Live!

We are uploading weekly videos to our YouTube channel along with fun stuff and footage from video classes! Here is the link!

Trips, Trips, Trips!

Ncr K8th Grade Rafting Trip! Our campers who are finishing 8th grade get this special opportunity. They took the overnight trip up to North Country Rivers in Maine. They then jumped into rafts and rode the rapids of the scenic Kennebec river. Reports from the campers is that they had an absolute blast!

ImgDuring “the GORGEous Bird Adventure” they headed to Quechee, Vermont where they visited Vin’s Bird Sanctuary and hiked along Quechee Gorge.

In addition to all the incredible food the kitchen is serving we always have a cereal and yogurt bar plus a toasting station in the morning. For lunch and dinner, we always have a full salad bar and sun butter/jelly station.

This year we have additional options for meals like oatmeal every morning and for lunch we offer hummus plate, cheese plate or turkey sub!

Campers of the Day

Untitled Design ()Every day at morning meeting, a camper of the day is recognized by another camper in the community by passing on a necklace. Juliette B, had the necklace first and then it was passed on in the following order:

  • Strummer A
  • Sonny C
  • Madeline S
  • Julian B
  • Molly D
  • Chloe M

They wear the necklace all day and then pass it on at the next morning meeting!
