Independence Day! (July 5th?)
Happy Independence Day!
July 4th (or 5th as the case may be this year due to an unpredictable 4th forecast) is one of my favorite days during the first session. The day started with a special wake-up with the sounds of “horses” and the villagers warning the campers that the British are coming, which was followed by Patriotic music during breakfast from the bell tower. Who doesn’t like to start the day off with some Patriotic music?
The afternoon included the annual camper vs. counselor softball match and a great bar-b-q on the field. Our evening included the Carnival, where counselor-run booths included: donut-on-a-string; apple(sauce) pie eating contest; pudding drop; sponge toss; pie-in-the-face; fortune telling; dog show; field games; jumping over stuff; musical chairs and on and on and on. It was such a fun night and I hope you enjoy all the entertaining photos from the event. Of course, our night concluded with a great fireworks display over the lake, which everyone enjoyed!
It is another beautiful day today in NH. We feel lucky as we have been spared the extreme heat that the rest of the country is feeling. Right now, it is a breezy 80 degrees and I am listening to the sounds of summer – jam band rocking up on the deck, kids splashing down at the waterfront, and lots of laughter from the art deck.
