Sharing Staff Stories: Part 1
With camp around the corner, our staff are getting eager to come to camp. We have asked some of our returning staff to share some of their favorite moments at camp. These stories truly show how much our staff care about this camp and their campers. Keep an eye out for new staff stories every week!
“For the past few years at camp, I’ve been an LIT counselor. During each session, we take our group of kids on a trip into the woods where they get to swim, hike, and bond together while sharing in a cabin. One of the highlights of the trip is always hiking to the top of the mountain. After we reach the summit, the kids can choose to head back to the cabin with some counselors or go on a bonus hike along another trail before we make our way down.
This year, one of my co-counselors and I took the kids who were looking or a little extra adventure to a shelter along the Appalachian Trail. We chatted, sang, and laughed the entire way there. When we finally reached the end, the view was incredible and the kids we beyond ecstatic. It was one of those moments where you pause, take it all in, and think- this is why I do this”
